They were outclassed by France, Wales and Ireland. the Ireland game was a slight bonus because golden boots Simon Webster scored their first try in goodness knows how long. Re France, not sure it was just a case of lucky bounces; there seem to be a number of problems with Scotland's game; the Scotsman newspaper asked some experts for their advice and the key things they identified were getting the basics right; ball retention; tackle; breakdown and possession. John Beattie identifies the breakdown as the biggest problem; Fin calder feels we lack confidence in the midfield. One reader of the Scotsman reckons Scotland is still playing 1970s rugby (that's when I was at school, playimng 2nd row with Greenock Academy!). which I think he means a kind of lumbering game, not suited to the fast paced play of our opponents.
